The REALTORS® Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh is governed and operated by its members, for the benefit of its members. Members voluntarily serve on the Board of Directors and dozens of committees that give direction and manpower to operate the many programs, services and events of the Association. You, as a member, have a "say" in the Association and are encouraged to participate as yourtime and talents allow. Your participation creates an increased sense of belonging and multiplies the benefits you receive from the Association. RAMP invites our members to review the list of committees and sign up to serve "your" Association. After reviewing the following list, please contact RAMP offices with your Committee Preference! RAMP COMMITTEES In accordance with the 1998-2002 Strategic Plan Affiliates Committee Responsible for fostering mutually beneficial relationships among real estate-related industries. This committee is comprised of representatives from businesses engaged in a wide range of activities associated with real estate and real estate transactions. The purpose to develop cooperative programs that enhance the success of their respective businesses. The Builder/REALTOR® Committee, which cultivates relationships between builders and REALTORS®, serves as the model for this committee. Andron Epiphanon Fraternity Responsible for uniting those individual members of RAMP who are Pennsylvania real estate licensees, who have been highly successful in the sale, listing and leasing of real estate and have demonstrated excellence in their profession. At one time organized under separate By Laws, the fraternity is now a committee of the Association. Annual Banquet Committee Responsible for the annual event to celebrate the installation of officers and to recognize accomplishments of AEF members, the recipients of the Life Time Achievement and Distinguished Service awards, the recipient of the REALTOR® of the Year award. Asset Management Committee Responsible for overseeing the investment of the Association's assets. While a professional administers the investments, this committee is responsible for recommending investment objectives and policies to the Board of Directors and monitoring the performance of the investment portfolio. Budget/Finance Committee Responsible for overseeing the financial operation of the organization. This committee reviews financial statements, monitors income and expenses, prepares budgets and makes financial recommendations to the Board of Directors. By Laws Committee Responsible for the governance documents of the Association, which include the By Laws and Rules and Regulations. This committee periodically reviews these documents and recommends to the Board of Directors any necessary amendments. Capital Campaign Committee Responsible for developing and implementing annual campaigns to generate outside sources of revenue. This committee's activities are essential given that outside sources are revenue are needed to minimize dues increases while also maintaining services to members. Contributors' businesses also can benefit from exposure to the members. Commercial Investment Division Responsible for providing a forum for practitioners in the commercial, industrial and investment fields. Members engaged in these specialties have an opportunity to dialogue with one another and to develop programs or services that enhance their business practices. The group can also broaden the knowledge of the general membership in these industry activities.. Education Committee Responsible for enhancing the professional development of members. This committee coordinates educational activities within the organization and develops programs and services to supplement the education, training and information that are available to members from resources outside the Association. Equal Opportunity/Cultural Diversity Committee Responsible for promoting equal opportunity in real estate and enhancing practices in a culturally diverse environment. It is responsible for activities under the Fair Housing Partnership Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding and provides programs and services to help members protect the rights of persons covered under fair housing, ADA and civil rights laws. Executive Committee (as per By Laws) Responsible for acting on behalf of the Board of Directors between regularly scheduled meetings. The President, President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and three members of the Board of Directors serve on this committee. Government Affairs Committee Responsible for one of the key elements of the Association's mission, that is to protect the right to own, transfer and use real property. This committee monitors legislation and rule making and engages in activities to protect private property rights and the members' business. The committee is also responsible for overseeing the activities of the Government Affairs Department and its fundraising efforts. Homes Guide by REALTORS® Committee Responsible for overseeing the publication of the Homes Guide by REALTORS®. This committee monitors the vendor contract and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors to ensure that the publication provides essential benefits to the member-users. Lawyer/REALTOR® Committee Responsible for fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between RAMP and the Allegheny County Bar Association. This committee, which is comprised of members from both organizations, engages in activities to address issues of common concern. Legal Action Trust Fund (under separate By Laws) Responsible for a fund established to provide financial assistance for litigation arising from matters that may have a detrimental affect on the real estate industry. Five members serve as trustees for five-year staggered terms; one member is appointed each year. Manager's Division (under separate By Laws) Responsible for providing a forum for brokers, managers and others interested in real estate office management. Members have an opportunity to dialogue about common interests, to keep abreast of issues that affect the industry and practices within brokerage offices and to develop programs that enhance management skills. Membership Committee Responsible for recruitment and retention of members in the Association. This committee is responsible for securing the growth and stability of the organization by ensuring that members' needs are being met, engaging in recruitment activities and developing programs to retain membership. Nominating Committees (as per By Laws) Responsible for recommending those individuals who will lead the Association. One committee, consisting of one member of the Board of Directors and four members-at-large, is responsible for nominating candidates for election to the Board of Directors. Another committee, consisting of four Directors, nominates candidates for election as officers. . Professional Standards and Arbitration Committee (as per By Laws) Responsible for a key priority of the Association, that is the ethical conduct of its members. This committee holds hearings regarding alleged violations of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and the arbitration of monetary disputes between REALTORS®. According to the By Laws, the committee is comprised of 15 members who serve 3-year, staggered terms. Five new members are appointed each year. RAMP-PAC (under separate By Laws) Responsible for administering the Association's PAC. This PAC was established by the organization to address government issues that significantly impact its members and the private rights of property owners, particularly at the local level. It can also support these efforts through contributions to RPAC. RAMP Foundation (under separate By Laws) Responsible for administering the Association's charitable foundation. This 501c (3) corporation was formed to provide a means for the organization to engage in philanthropic activities. R-Day Committee Responsible for conducting the annual R-Day conference. It oversees all of the activities associated with producing a mini-convention day for the Association. Although primarily an educational conference, other activities of the organization are combined along with a vendor exhibition to make it one of the organization's most successful annual events. REALTOR® of the Year Committee Responsible for awarding the Association's most prestigious honor. It is comprised of previous awardees, who are responsible for determining the REALTOR® member of RAMP who will receive this recognition each year. Strategic Planning Committee Responsible for the Association's strategic planning activities. It formulates plans and oversees their implementation to ensure that the organization meets the contemporary needs of members and utilizes its human and financial resources in cost-efficient and effective ways to provide stability and growth in the organization.
